Chapter 5. PERCEPTION, OR WHAT IS LEFT OF TRAVEL

This is the 1st time that I’ve been

 so inspired by the exhibition,

and it is so much in line

with the events in my life

All right, that’s settled!

I’m selling a sofa and buy a bidarka!

Exposition visitors’ comments

This chapter will consider how visitors perceive the exhibition. We used three instruments for our analysis: a questionnaire, qualitative analyses of the visitors ‘comments and focus-groups discussions. The research was supervised by Elena Anatolievna Shuklina, candidate of Sociology. She also has prepared this report. Some pages will acquaint you with full text of  visitors comments and experts reviews.

“The Art of Travel” exhibition questionnaire objectives

Objective 1: to identify to what extent the visitors could “read” semantics of the exhibition on the whole and of each section in particular.

Objective  2: to define effectiveness of participatory zones and its communication effect.

Objective 3: to indicate motivational effect, impact on viewers’ behavior patterns.

Objective 4. To find out to what extent historical museum exhibits interpretation has been successfully actualized in the exposition space.

Objective 5. To elicit the respondents assessment of the display structure and exhibits zoning.

Objective 6. To educe visitors assessment of the exhibition uniqueness, specifics of its form and content.
